چکیده

Scene modeling has a key role in applications ranging from visual mapping to augmented reality. This paper presents an end-to-end solution for creating accurate three-dimensional (3D) textured models using monocular video sequences. The methods are developed within the framework of sequential structure from motion, in which a 3D model of the environment is maintained and updated as new visual information becomes available. The proposed approach contains contributions at different levels. The camera pose is recovered by directly associating the 3D scene model with local image observations, using a dual-registration approach. Compared to the standard structure from motion techniques, this approach decreases the error accumulation while increasing the robustness to scene occlusions and feature association failures, while allowing 3D reconstructions for any type of scene. Motivated by the need to map large areas, a novel 3D vertex selection mechanism is proposed, which takes into account the geometry of the scene. Vertices are selected not only to have high reconstruction accuracy but also to be representative of the local shape of the scene. This results in a reduction in the complexity of the final 3D model, with minimal loss of precision. As a final step, a composite visual map of the scene (mosaic)

A Review of Image Mosaicing Techniques

Image Mosaicing is a method of constructing multiple images of the same scene into a larger image. The output of the image mosaic will be the union of two input images. Image-mosaicing algorithms are used to get mosaiced image. Image Mosaicing processed is basically divided in to 5 phases. Which includes; Feature point extraction, Image registration, Homography computation, Warping and Blending...

Image mosaicing for tele-reality applications

While a large number of virtual reality applications, such as fluid flow analysis and molecular modeling, deal with simulated data, many newer applications attempt to recreate true reality as convincingly as possible. Building detailed models for such applications, which we call tele-reality, is a major bottleneck holding back their deployment. In this paper, we present techniques for automatic...

Generalized Mosaicing

We present an approach that significantly enhances the capabilities of traditional image mosaicing. The key observation is that as a camera moves, it senses each scene point multiple times. We rigidly attach to the camera an optical filter with spatially varying properties, so that multiple measurements are obtained for each scene point under different optical settings. Fusing the data captured...

Optical Flow Video Image Mosaic

Many problems require finding the coordinate transformation between two images of the same scene or object. Whether to recover camera motion between video frames, to stabilize video images, to relate or recognize photographs taken from two different cameras, to compute depth within a three-dimensional (3-D) scene, or for image registration and resolution enhancement, it is important to have a p...

Error Characteristics of Parallel-Perspective Stereo Mosaics

This paper analyzes different aspects of the error characteristics of parallel-perspective stereo mosaics generated from an airborne video camera moving through a complex three-dimensional scene. First, we show that theoretically a stereo pair of parallelperspective mosaics is a good representation for an extended scene, and the adaptive baseline inherent to the geometry permits depth accuracy ...
